Tornado Strikes Moore, Oklahoma

An EF-4 tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma today, causing widespread damage across a 20-mile path throughout the Oklahoma City suburb. The tornado has claimed at least 37 lives with many more injured and has left thousands without power.

Our thoughts go out to those who have been affected, and we hope those in the Oklahoma City area stay safe in the upcoming days. You can find more information on how to help the tornado victims here.

Moore, OK is just south of OKC. On May 3, 1999 it was hit by a series of tornados that leveled homes and businesses across the city including a storage facility directly across the street from my dad’s trash disposal business.

You’re looking at the floor of the vintage Masters of the Universe “Castle Grayskull” playset. More specifically, you’re looking at the BEST PART of that playset. A sticker meant to hint at a basement dungeon! Oodles of unknown monsters, including a squid, skeleton, giant insect, some kind of ogre, and even a werewolf!

I got serious mileage out of Grayskull as a kid, but this one little touch meant so much more than the trapdoor, weird throne or working elevator. I’m tempted to bust out a hairdryer to safely pry that sticker off. It needs to be FRAMED.
